A FIG LEAF + CO 4th
Okay…I’m gonna go ahead and let y’all in on a little secret of mine...
I love holidays. Like A LOT! But one of my absolute FAVORITE holidays is 4th of July. I know, it’s a weird “fave,” but in my life, the week of July 4th has always been completely magical!
I remember growing up on Pawleys Island. Everyone in the town – and I mean EVERYONE – would come together on the island to celebrate. There were parades, flags, cook-outs, fireworks…literally everything that is good and right in this world, ha! My family and I would wake up SUPER early, drive down to the island, find a park, and lug the day’s worth of stuff down to the salty sand. For me, July 4th is full of excitement and adventure, which is why I want to share some ways to make your 4th extra special this year!
I’m not sure about you, but for my family, the 4th is and will forever be the ULTIMATE cook-out day. Hot dogs, hamburgers, steak, shrimp, corn, you name it, we grill it! So pull out the grill, grab some charcoal (or gas for those who aren’t into flaming coals) and get to cookin’. The reality is, you can’t really “mess up” a table scape for 4th of July. It doesn’t matter how you choose to decorate for this amazing holiday, the only thing that really matters is that you let your American pride shine with those 3 famous colors – red, white, and blue!
One look that just screams “4th of July!!!” is gingham. Try throwing it in with napkins or placemats for a fun festive flair; or incorporate it into your plates & cups! There are a TON of ways to add gingham flair, just be sure you don’t over do it because with gingham, a little goes a long way. Another fave of mine is burlap. From “Happy 4th!” dangling signs to table runners, burlap is a great and inexpensive way to make your entertaining space pop! As you probably know by now, I’m a “less is more” kinda gal, so I typically try to keep my table scape fairly simple with a few patriotic sprinkles here and there.
P.S. This table scape was less than $40. Yes, I am serious. How is that even possible you ask? You can find these goodies and more without breaking the bank at your local Target & Dollar Tree. If you have fresh flowers cut some, but if not, these Dollar Tree carnations are an easy fix to add texture and a fun pop to your table. Burlap runners are all over the place today, but I found this one at Target for a steal! Grab some gingham plates & napkins at DT and call it a win!
